With three decades of communications experience serving global and start-up firms across
many industries, Henry brings breadth and depth to marketing and PR assignments.
Adjectives that best describe him are: experienced, knowledgeable and curious. As a former
business editor and reporter on many beats and a marketing strategist for more than 100
firms, he enjoys new assignments. Beyond this, how can he benefit your organization? He is
very determined to succeed for his clients.
He founded the San Francisco-based marketing and public relations agency Eason
Communications LLC in 1989 to help innovative companies and organizations communicate
better. Since then, the agency has developed and implemented numerous marketing, public
relations and advertising programs for technology, web, healthcare, financial services,
logistics, manufacturers, hospitality, media, real estate, professional services and nonprofit
Before founding his agency, Eason was director of media relations of the world’s largest
business federation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. He and his
department were responsible for formulating and implementing the Chamber’s
communications strategy to the American business community’s national and global
audiences as well as furthering free enterprise here and abroad.
Prior to that, Eason was a senior editor of the million-plus circulation Nation’s Business
magazine, Washington correspondent for The Atlanta Constitution, the other 30 dailies in the
Cox Newspapers chain and more than 400 news organizations around the world that
subscribed to Cox News Service. He covered business and technology issues before
Congress, the White House and other executive agencies, as well as the federal judiciary and
national interest groups.
He earned an M.A. in mass communications from the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s
degree in history and political science from Armstrong Atlantic State University. His past and
current memberships include: the White House Correspondents Association, Association for
Corporate Growth, the Congressional Correspondents Association, the National Press Club,
American Marketing Association, the Public Relations Society of America, the International
Association of Business Communicators, Building Owners and Mangers Association, the
Society for Marketing Professional Services, the Business Marketing Association, the San
Francisco Bay Area Publicity Club, the Commonwealth Club and the San Francisco Chamber
of Commerce. He taught public relations and reporting in the communications graduate school
of George Washington University and in the University of South Carolina extension program.
A unique contradiction to the perception that you can’t be both an accomplished PR counselor
and an art director, Ellen augmented her marketing career by studying graphic design at UC
Berkeley. She has handled financial and other media relations in the U.S. Senate and for
Fortune 500-level firms and created iconic brands for international companies: a right-brain
and left-brain gal who can help your company develop a powerful and integrated brand
presence in the marketplace.
Ellen is a partner and art director of Eason Communications LLC. She has created and
implemented branding campaigns for companies in many economic sectors, including
financial, technology, telecommunications, logistics, healthcare, hospitality and professional
services. She began her career as a public relations counselor, then grew to assume fuller
responsibilities for overall marketing communications campaigns. To better manage graphic
aspects of marketing programs, she earned a certificate in graphic arts.
Before joining the firm, she was a communications manager at Robert Half International Inc.in
Menlo Park, CA, the world’s largest specialized staffing firm, serving the technology and
financial community. She had been a legislative and press aide in the U.S. Senate. Ellen has
also been on the boards of the International Association of Business Communicators,
Association of Women in Communications and Junior Achievement. She co-chaired the
legislative committee of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. For two years, she was
president of the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association’s Northern California chapter. She
has a certificate in graphic design from the University of California Berkeley and a
bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is an active
member of the Building Owners and Managers Association and serves on the Board of
Governors of The City Club of San Francisco.
Ellen has been a graduate student advisor on branding for the Academy of Art University and
has conducted public relations training at the American Institute of Architects-San Francisco.
She is the leader of the Carolina Club for UNC alumni in the Bay Area. In her leisure time she
enjoys hiking, dining out, wine tasting, bookbinding, reading Southern fiction, playing the flute,
gardening and volunteering at her neighborhood farmers’ market.
